Planning for your visit

Thank you for choosing Planned Parenthood of League of Massachusetts as your health care provider.

To ensure the best experience possible, below are instructions to help you prepare for your visit. Please select the type of visit you have scheduled.

MyChart patient portal

All of our patients will be able to use a MyChart account to schedule appointments, track test results and keep in touch with our clinical staff. When you schedule your next appointment, you will be given instructions on how to access MyChart.

MyChart

Masks are optional in our health centers unless:

  • You are experiencing respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, running nose)
  • You are recovering from COVID (you have been released from your isolation period, but still need to be masked around others)
  • You have had a known exposure to COVID in the past 10 days

  • Smoking cessation counseling with a focus on motivational interviewing techniques are provided to patients of all ages.  Prescriptions may be provided to all patients including minors with parental consent.

Preventive Care Visit

If you are visiting for preventative care:

If you are menstruating at the time of your appointment, you may need to reschedule if you are due for a pap smear. Please do not put anything in your vagina or have sex for 24 hours before your appointment.

Hormonal Implant Insertion

If you are visiting for a hormonal implant insertion:

Continue your current birth control as usual up until the time of the appointment. Please do not  have any unprotected sex (sex without a birth control method) from the time your last period started until your Implant insertion appointment.

If you are under the age of 18, you will need a parent or legal guardian to come with you to your appointment to provide consent.  Please note that PPLM is unable to test and treat for UTIs in men.

In-Clinic Abortion

If your visit is for in-clinic abortion care:

IUD/IUC Insertion

If your visit is for IUD/IUC insertion:

Continue your current birth control as usual up until the time of the appointment. Please do not  have any unprotected sex (sex without a birth control method) from the time your last period started until you IUD insertion appointment.  If you have had sex without birth control since your last period started, we may need to reschedule your appointment.

If you have had unprotected sex and are looking to have the Paragard or Liletta IUD inserted as emergency contraception, please call us.

Emergency Contraception

If your visit is for emergency contraception (Plan B, or the-morning-after pill):

PEP for HIV Exposure

If your visit is for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV prevention:

PEP medications can reduce the risk of contracting HIV if administered within 72 hours of a possible exposure to HIV.  Please call us to schedule an appointment right away.  If we are not able to see you within 72 hours, we can help refer you to an emergency department that provides PEP.

PrEP for HIV prevention

If your visit is for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention:

If you are under the age of 18, you will need a parent or legal guardian to come with you to your appointment to provide consent. If you have received previous HPV vaccinations from a provider other than PPLM, please bring your medical records to your appointment.

FAQ's

What services can I receive via Telehealth?

Birth Control- Pills, patch, ring, depo shot, and Ella

UTI, BV, Yeast Infection, Herpes Treatment

 STI testing- At an outside lab or one of our centers

How do I connect with the provider?

Teladoc is our video chat platform. You will receive a link for your appointment that will have prompts for downloading the app and getting into the appointment.

You will connect with a Patient Navigator first and then will be connected to the provider

Will I have to expose myself on camera during my telehealth visit?
 

No, you will not have to expose yourself on camera. Many visits can be addressed with simple questions and answers. If your provider needs more information to provide your care, they will let you know during your telehealth visit so you can decide how you want to continue.

How much is it if I don’t have insurance?

$50 flat rate fee

Minors without insurance are free

Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

For some prescriptions, we need an up-to-date blood pressure reading before we can release medications. Please make sure to have an updated blood pressure reading prior to your appointment if possible.

What if I have trouble connecting to my appointment, what should I do?

First, check your WIFI/Data connection. If you're still having issues connecting, call 267-766-9513 and someone will help get you connected.
