For months now, Christina H., the center manager at our site in Nevada, has seen how grateful patients are when our health care staff can see them right away. Because of the pandemic, many doctors and health care providers in the region are not taking any more patients. Some of our Nevada patients have said that they would have had to wait weeks or months for appointments to get the most effective contraception if it weren’t for our PPMM health center.

“Our schedule hasn’t slowed down,” Christina said. “We’ve seen a large increase in appointments for birth control and medication abortions; birth control because many doctors were closed or have significantly reduced how many patients they were seeing and medication abortions because we’re the only place that provides that service for Northern Nevada.”

Christina has focused on making sure that both our patients and staff have everything they need to make their appointments go smoothly, especially during a time of such high anxiety. Setting a supportive and compassionate tone in the health center is more important than ever.

“The pandemic has been stressful for everyone,” she said. “I am so thankful to our health center staff who make sure our patients get quality care no matter how short-staffed we may be.”
