INDIANAPOLIS — Planned Parenthood Great Northwest Hawai‘i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky (PPGNHAIK) is proud to announce it now has vasectomy services at four locations across Indiana. Beginning today, patients will be able to access the birth control option in Fort Wayne, expanding to Georgetown by late March. Vasectomy services are also currently available in Hammond and Mishawaka.

With the expansion of vasectomy services, Planned Parenthood is reminding men that our doors are open to them, too. Health centers across the state also provide critical access to condoms, wellness exams, STI testing and treatment, and more.

As the most trusted name in sexual health, Planned Parenthood is both a space where men, women, trans, and nonbinary folks can get the health care services they need, and join the fight for reproductive health freedom. In fact, for 70 percent of the patients we serve, Planned Parenthood health centers are their only source of health care.

“The dangers of living in a state hostile to abortion care impacts us all and partners are realizing that women shouldn’t be the only ones with birth control in their cabinets, or in their bodies,” said Rebecca Gibron, CEO for PPGNHAIK. “Many men concerned for their partners’ reproductive rights and health are finding vasectomy as a solution, with more requests for the service in Georgetown than anywhere in the state. We are thrilled to expand our services to provide a full range of birth control options to help meet our patients where they are and when they are ready.”

“After the overturn of Roe v. Wade, we saw increased interest from men who wanted to show up in support of reproductive rights, and vocalized wanting to take a more active role in family planning,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “This expansion of services comes at a critical time when access to sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion, are increasingly out of reach. We are proud to see vasectomy services offered alongside a slate of other care that ensures men have the resources they need to make decisions for their own bodies, lives, and futures.”

More ways for men to be Reproductive Health All Stars:

  • Have condoms and emergency contraception in the home, or on hand.
  • If having children (or more children) isn’t in the cards, consider a vasectomy.
  • Get routine wellness exams and STI screenings at your local Planned Parenthood to keep you and your partner healthy.
  • Engage in conversations about abortion and reproductive health access.

Our health centers in Indiana will continue to provide essential health care services, including: emergency contraception, birth control and vasectomies; STI testing and treatment; pregnancy consultation and ultrasounds; cancer screenings; gender-affirming care for people over 18; and wellness visits. We also provide pre- and post-abortion care, and referrals to nearby states where abortion remains legal.
