Meet Event Chairs Pat Wilson & Greg Rose

As strong believers in equality, privacy, and reproductive justice, Pat and Greg are among Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest’s most passionate advocates. Before agreeing to lend their time and energy to the role of 55th Anniversary Dinner Chairs, their years of support recently culminated in a leadership gift to help expand the Planned Parenthood Mimi Brien Health Center in Mission Bay.

Pat, a self-proclaimed “old-school feminist,” has been a proud Planned Parenthood supporter for decades, and sits on the affiliate’s Philanthropy Committee. “Planned Parenthood helps women and men control their own destiny—parenthood should be planned!” she says. With degrees in biology and computer science, the East Coast native was recruited by UC San Diego and spent 20 years in computer systems administration and security. She and Greg met at a technology conference, bonding over their shared interest in computer security. After Pat retired, law school beckoned, and she was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2013. Pat is a member of the Reproductive Justice Committee of the Lawyers Club of San Diego a Trustee of the San Diego Public Library Foundation, and a longtime Planned Parenthood volunteer.

Greg, an Australia-born computer scientist and cryptographer, was a Senior VP in the office of the Chief Scientist for Qualcomm, where he worked on cryptographic security and authentication for third-generation mobile phones and other technologies. Today, Greg does security consulting for a number of high-profile clients and is building a startup focusing on the security of biomedical devices. Privacy protections remain a top concern for Pat and Greg, who both sit on the board of the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties. They continue to champion the causes that inspire them, including reproductive freedom, the fight against mass incarceration, and immigrants’ rights.
