Our former Board Member Ellen Dolgen — an expert on menopause — donated her handmade, beautiful uterus costume to Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest!

Uterina will join Condomino at community events (such as health fairs at community colleges), and together they will deliver peace, love, and educational safe sex messaging.

Lauren Dockweiler, director of annual campaigns, recently became a social media sensation when she danced as Uterina in a 20-second video on Facebook.

“Wearing the costume felt a little bit like being Wonder Woman!” Lauren said.  “The costume embodies female empowerment.”

She described being asked to wear the costume: “I said yes because it was a ‘why not?’ moment. It’s rare that you get asked to do something you’ve never done that’s outside your comfort zone.”

We lucked out with Lauren, as she’s also a professional dancer. She recently was a member of the bkSOUL dance company here in San Diego. And though her arm movement was somewhat impeded, she did a great job: The video caught on and had more than 10,000 views!

“I was at my OB/GYN’s office a day after the video went up,” Lauren said. “And she brought up that she’d seen the video, which gave me a good laugh.”

Watch Lauren being a very enthusiastic and rhythmic Uterina on our Facebook page.
