Covered California is where Californians can get health insurance under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as the ACA or “Obamacare.” You may qualify for federal premium assistance for private insurance (making insurance cheaper for you!), or even qualify for no-cost health insurance through California’s Medi-Cal program depending on your family size and income.

Open enrollment runs from Nov. 1, 2015 through Jan. 31, 2016. This is the only time of the year that you can enroll in or make changes to your Covered California insurance plan, unless you have a life-changing event like getting married, having a child, moving or losing your job. So if you want to change plans, coverage levels, or doctors, now is the time.

Keep in mind that you can enroll in Medi-Cal at any time.

Go to CoveredCa.com to start the process. If you, your family, or your friends need help with the process, click here to find local organizations providing free enrollment assistance. Did you know applications are also available in 12 languages?

If you want to continue to come to Planned Parenthood, check out the insurance plans that make it easy for you to see us at planned.org/insurance. And don’t forget that our doors are open to everyone, regardless of their insurance or immigration status.
