With STI rates on the rise, Planned Parenthood is making it even easier for patients to test for three of the most common STIs: chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis (if applicable). We're pleased to introduce our STI mail-in kits, made for patients to take control of their sexual health from the comfort of their own homes. This is a convenient and easy option for annual STI testing.

Our mail-in kits are for patients without symptoms, offering a straightforward process to ensure peace of mind:

  1. Schedule a Telehealth Appointment: Begin by scheduling a telehealth appointment to discuss whether our mail-in testing option is right for you.
  2. Receive Your Kit: Once approved, we'll mail you a discreet kit containing everything you need to collect your sample.
  3. Submit Your Sample: Follow the instructions provided to collect your sample and mail it back to us (postage is prepaid).
  4. Get Your Results: You'll have access to your results within 7 days of the lab receiving your kit back.

At Planned Parenthood, we recommend patients get STI testing at least annually, but we know busy schedules and conflicting priorities can make in-person visits difficult to set up. For patients with no symptoms looking for a more convenient or private way to complete their testing at home, I would recommend our STI mail-in kits. Our mail-in kits increase access to quality STI screening, while meeting our patients’ needs for more telehealth-based health care options. For patients that are experiencing symptoms, we still recommend coming in person to the health center in case a physical exam is needed.

What sets our mail-in kit apart is its accessibility. Many insurance plans, including Medi-Cal, cover the cost, making it an affordable option for many people. Patients can also pay out of pocket by credit or debit if they don’t wish to go through insurance.

Confidentiality is crucial to us. That's why our kits are discreetly packaged in plain U.S. Postal Service boxes, with postage paid for by Planned Parenthood. Your health care is your business, and we ensure absolute privacy throughout the process.

Trust the experts at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest to provide you with an easy, fast, and confidential way to test for STIs. Your health is our priority, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
