Every year, there is a period in the fall when people can enroll in an Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plan for the next year. ACA Open Enrollment for 2022 started on November 1 and will run through January 31, 2022 in California.

Outside the ACA’s Open Enrollment period, you generally can enroll in a health insurance plan only if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period - so you don’t want to miss this year’s deadline! You’re eligible to enroll outside of Open Enrollment if you have certain life events, like getting married, having a baby, or losing other health coverage.

If you previously signed up for coverage, you must re-enroll during Open Enrollment, even if you want to keep the same plan. If you are happy with your current plan, Open Enrollment is a chance to make updates to your plan, such as adding or removing dependents.

At Planned Parenthood, we believe everybody should be able to access the health care they need - no matter what. For more information about dates and deadlines for 2022 health insurance enrollment, visit the Covered California website and make sure you’re covered!
