Can Teenagers Have an Abortion in Tennessee Without Their Parents Knowing?
In Tennessee the answer is no, except in extraordinary situations. Tennessee law requires parental consent, except in cases where a judge has determined that the parents should not or could not be involved and has allowed for a Judicial Bypass due to these extreme circumstances. Planned Parenthood encourages teens to involve their parents or guardians in issues surrounding sexual activity and/or decision making, including options surrounding pregnancy. If a teen needs to speak with someone regarding Judicial Bypass or has any other questions, they should contact one of our Health Centers.
