How effective are morning-after pills?
A morning-after pill can lower your chance of unintended pregnancy by 75-89% if you take it within three days after unprotected sex. But sooner is better – the longer you wait, the less effective it is.
This type of Emergency Contraception (EC) is less effective in people who weigh over 155 lbs. In this case, there are other options, which work up to five days after unprotected sex, that might be better EC options for you.
Emergency Contraception is not an effective form of long-term birth control.
