Abortion in Waterbury, CT
We offer the following abortion services:
Medication Abortion / Abortion Pill
Availability and How to Prepare
The abortion pill (also known as a medication abortion) is offered up to 11 weeks after the first day of your last menstrual period. It is a safe and effective way of ending an early pregnancy.
If your last period was more than 11 weeks ago, we can still help. Call us for a referral list of health care providers in your area that offer other abortion services.
Abortion pill (medication abortion) services are available by appointment only.
For Telehealth Services: When you call to schedule your appointment, you will be asked a series of screening questions to check if a telehealth medication abortion is a safe option for you. After scheduling, you will receive a questionnaire via MyChart that you must complete before your appointment to confirm you're a candidate for telehealth medication abortion. Please ensure that you have:
- Taken a home pregnancy test to confirm pregnancy status.
- The date of your last menstrual period (LMP).
Post-Appointment Information
In the unlikely event that you are still pregnant, you may need another dose of medicine or to have an in-clinic abortion to end the pregnancy.
We’ll also give you after-care instructions and a phone number you can call with any questions or concerns.
CT Requirements
Informed Consent
Prior to an abortion, a patient must receive information about the procedure from a counselor. The patient must sign a consent form that describes the "nature and consequences of the procedure which shall be used."
Post-Viability Abortion Restriction
Connecticut's post-viability restriction provides that no abortion may be performed after viability unless necessary to preserve the woman's life or health.
Young Women's Access to Abortion
A patient under 16 can obtain an abortion after receiving counseling from a PPC registered nurse or clinician. While we encourage all young people to talk with their parents, guardians, or trusted adults about their reproductive and sexual health, in the state of CT, adult permission (from a parent or guardian) is not required for them to receive services from Planned Parenthood.
If you are under the age of 18 and need help talking with your parents/caregivers or seeking judicial bypass we can help.
Additional Abortion Support
Before your abortion, our expert and caring staff will discuss all of your pregnancy options with you to help you make sure abortion is the best decision for you. We’ll also talk with you about your health history to make sure we’re providing the best care for you.
If you don’t have insurance and need help paying for your abortion, call us. We may be able to help you with financial assistance. You can also go to AbortionFunds.org for financial help.
