Education and Community Services

Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley is a trusted provider of sexual health services and education in the community.

We believe that all people deserve honest, medically accurate information about sexual health to help them form mutually respectful relationships and stay healthy. Our education team provides education on sexual health topics in a wide variety of community settings, including: schools, colleges/universities, parent groups, foster care settings, recovery centers, and other community-based organizations. Our goal is to foster understanding about human sexuality and educate youth and adults about their right to health care. Our programs are interactive, trauma-informed, and include the most current and up-to-date information.

Parent Education “Let’s Talk “ 

At Planned Parenthood, we believe parents, guardians, and other caregivers should be the primary sexuality educators for their children. Need help having these conversations? Our Let’s Talk workshops and programs are designed to equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools to have honest, medically accurate and age-appropriate conversations with youth of any age. We provide parent and caregiver education in a variety of settings, including community organizations, community centers and schools. All workshops and programs are offered in English or Spanish.

Professional Development  
 

Our trained staff offer a variety of interactive workshops that can be tailored and bundled according to the needs of your school or organization. We are trainers for the Sexual Health Educator (SHE) Training Program (and we provide SB 89 compliance trainings for STRTP (group home) staff. Feel free to reach out with your needs. 

Peer Advocates 

Interested in becoming an advocate? Want to make a difference in your community? Join the Peer Advocate program to learn how to become a leader, create positive change, and build support for reproductive rights and social justice! Not all teens have access to medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education, and access to comprehensive health care services. As an advocate, you can make a difference by becoming a trusted and reliable source of information while building relationships with key decision makers.  

Peer Advocates meet every other week on Wednesday evenings either in-person or online from late August through March.

Digital Youth Advisory Board

Are you passionate about sexual health and education? Want to have your voice heard? Join PPPSGV’s youth program - the Digital Youth Advisory Board! This entirely online program is a way for youth in our communities to influence the work we do in education through sharing their ideas on sex education, sexual health services, and anything else impacting youth right now! Your voice will have a powerful influence on the work we do and how we meet the needs of young people throughout the region. Youth Advisory Board members will follow a private Instagram account where they share their thoughts/opinions on content that is posted.   

We are not currently recruiting for the Digital Youth Advisory Board.
