The Training Institute provides trainings and resources to professionals who want to stay up-to-date on sexual and reproductive health topics. We offer a wide variety of training opportunities for educators, health care providers, social workers, case managers, youth workers, and others who want to share healthy sexuality messages with clients.

Organizational Capacity Building 

The Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Organizational Capacity Building Program supports community organizations, healthcare institutions, and citywide agencies. Capacity building participants receive SRH information, skills-building opportunities, and educational materials to establish organizational environments that encourage education and referrals for sexual and reproductive health.

Clinical Training

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York provides clinical training that helps close the gap between the need for abortion services and the number of clinicians trained to provide abortions. We pursue that mission through partnerships with family medicine and obstetrics/gynecology resident training programs in New York City.

This work has expanded to include training and education programs in pregnancy options counseling, ultrasound, colposcopy, and other reproductive health services. We train a wide range of health care professionals such as nurses, certified nurse-midwives, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, as well as physicians. Currently, we focus on training clinicians who work at other Planned Parenthood affiliates or who are in residency programs with which we have a contractual relationship.
