PHOENIX, ARIZONA – Today, Planned Parenthood Arizona is launching vasectomy services at our Central Phoenix Health Center. This decision comes one year after PPAZ successfully launched this first-of-its-kind program at the Southern Arizona Regional Health Center in Tucson, which was rolled out in response to increased requests for vasectomy services from patients across the state in the wake of the Dobbs decision and ensuing litigation over abortion access in Arizona.
“Following the resounding success of our vasectomy program launch in Tucson just one year ago, we at Planned Parenthood Arizona are thrilled to expand this safe and effective family planning method to our metropolitan Phoenix community,” said Dr. Jill Gibson, Chief Medical Officer at Planned Parenthood Arizona. “We remain staunchly committed to our mission of protecting and expanding reproductive health care access in Arizona and responding to the needs of our community. While we continue to see extremist elected officials play politics with Arizonans’ health care and attempt to threaten and restrict access to birth control and safe abortion, we are working consistently towards expanding options for family planning and safeguarding bodily autonomy for Arizonans.”
Given the resounding success of the vasectomy program in Tucson over the past year, where each month the health center sees an overwhelming request for appointments and where nearly half of vasectomy patients are traveling from the Greater Phoenix metropolitan area to access this care, Planned Parenthood Arizona is rolling out vasectomy services in this second, central clinic to serve Arizona’s largest metropolitan area and meet Arizonans’ demand for reproductive care services.
Parenthood Arizona’s vasectomy services are a simple, safe, and effective form of permanent birth control that helps reduce uncertainty amid a constant lack of clarity and worries about the future of reproductive health rights and access in Arizona, including abortion.
Planned Parenthood Arizona is now accepting patients for vasectomy services at our Central Phoenix Health Center. To schedule an appointment, patients can call (602) 277-7526.
