PHOENIX - Planned Parenthood Arizona announces the appointment of Jodi Liggett to the position of director of public policy.  She will oversee reproductive health and rights policy objectives for Planned Parenthood Arizona.  She will also collaborate with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, the separate organization that educates voters and candidates for public office.

With a background in law, policy, public relations, human services and nonprofit management, Liggett has a breadth of experience and knowledge that makes her a perfect fit for the position.  She most recently served as senior policy advisor for City of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton in the human services areas of poverty, health care, education and domestic violence.

"Jodi Liggett is one of the most extraordinary public administrators I have had the good fortune to work with, and she is one of the best people I know,” says Mayor Stanton. “She will be a tremendous asset to Planned Parenthood and I look forward to working closely with her for years to come."

Before her time at the mayor’s office, Liggett held the position of director of policy, programs and research, and ultimately CEO, at the Arizona Foundation for Women. She also had a policy advisement role under Arizona Governor Jane Dee Hull. She is on the Boards of Directors for Arizona Foundation for Women and the Association for Supportive Child Care. She also lends her expertise as a committee member for O’Connor House Domestic Violence.

“Jodi has the knowledge and experience we were looking for, propelling Planned Parenthood to advance legislation and regulation that protects access to health care and sexual education,” says Bryan Howard, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Arizona. “We are excited to add such a highly regarded and dynamic individual to our organization’s executive team.”

Liggett’s first day at Planned Parenthood Arizona will be January 6, 2014
