Planned Parenthood has received a $10,000 Community Grant from Phoenix Pride to support Gender Affirming Care services in Maricopa County to help transgender and nonbinary individuals. PPAZ is expanding long-standing services for the LGBTQ+ community to include GAC in response to attacks in legislatures, by employers, and in schools. The health care service are available at Planned Parenthood’s five health centers across metro Phoenix: Central Phoenix Health Center, Desert Sky Health Center, Glendale Regional Health Center, Mesa Health Center, and Tempe Regional Health Center.

Valley residents who are interested in receiving GAC services from PPAZ can contact their area Planned Parenthood Arizona health center. Health center phone numbers and locations can be accessed through a zip code search on this page of the PPAZ website: Health Center Locations | Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc.

“Patients utilizing gender-affirming care services at PPAZ express their sincere gratitude (and sometimes amazement!) that they have finally found a safe, reliable, and trust-worthy clinic for this service,” said Dr. Jill Gibson, Medical Director, Planned Parenthood Arizona. “One 50-year-old trans woman confided to me that she has been seeking gender-affirming hormone therapy her entire life and never felt comfortable enough to step into a clinic until that clinic was a Planned Parenthood health center. As the medical director of Planned Parenthood, a patient experience such as this exemplifies the very essence and mission of the delivery of health care we strive to provide at PPAZ. We are so grateful for the grant support from Phoenix Pride for helping to make delivery of gender-affirming care possible for our patients.

Mike Fornelli, Executive Director of Phoenix Pride, stated, “Phoenix Pride is very excited to present Planned Parenthood Arizona a Community Grant to help fund and support Gender Affirming Care services for transgender and nonbinary individuals in Maricopa County. We are enormously proud of our ability to give back to the Phoenix LGBTQ+ community and our allies and to utilize the funds generated from the Phoenix Pride events to support significant impactful community programs. With over 250,000 self-identified LGBTQ+ people living in Arizona, our local direct-service nonprofits provide vital services and resources specific to LGBTQ+ needs. Phoenix Pride Community Grants Program provides value to Arizona’s vibrant LGBTQ+ and allied nonprofit sector by helping these organizations achieve their mission.”

Planned Parenthood Arizona offers deep gratitude to Phoenix Pride for this grant, which re-establishes and strengthens our partnership. This grant and the service it endows are part of our commitment to provide a full range of sexual and reproductive health care to the people of Arizona. No matter what.
