HIV Services in South San Francisco, CA

South San Francisco Health Center offers the following services:

  • HIV testing
  • HIV education
  • HIV referrals

Here’s what you need to know about HIV testing at this health center:

Rapid HIV testing can be done with a blood sample taken from a finger stick. The results are available in 10-40 minutes.

HIV testing is done by a blood draw. The results are available in days.

HIV counseling referral services are available.

Counseling and anonymous (without your name) or confidential (private) testing for HIV are provided by trained staff who are sensitive to your needs and concerns.

The rapid HIV test result is either negative (no infection) or reactive (possible infection).

If the rapid HIV test is reactive, your blood will need to be drawn. Results will be available in 1-2 weeks.

Instead of a rapid HIV test, you may choose to have your blood drawn and return in 1-2 weeks for the results.

This health center offers PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), a daily pill that individuals at increased risk for HIV can take to prevent HIV infection. Get tested and ask about it!

Payment is expected at time of service unless other arrangements have been made.

Some HIV services may be covered by your insurance. If you want to use your insurance, please be sure to have your insurance information at the time of your visit.

Medicaid accepted.

Medi-Cal accepted.

If you are uninsured, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance for your procedure. You can confidentially find out if you qualify by calling us at (877) 855-7526.

If you are eligible for financial assistance you may be asked to bring documentation with you to the health center.

Walk-in Information

If you need emergency contraception (AKA the morning after pill), you can walk in anytime we’re open.

You are welcome to walk in any time the Health Center is open to make an appointment or see if there is a same day appointment available. If you have the time to wait, we will make every effort to fit you in the same day. If we can’t see you, we will give you the first priority appointment available.

PPMM Health Centers accept walk-in patients, however it is on a first come, first serve basis, and there is no guarantee you will be seen until you arrive at the Health Center. Scheduling appointments is recommended to ensure you will be seen for the service you need.
