Curriculum for Youth
Get Real: Comprehensive Sex Education That Works is a comprehensive sexuality education curriculum designed for middle and high school aged youth. It is available as a curriculum package that includes teacher training and support as well as family activities.
Professional Education is now offering a digital Get Real curriculum. With students and educators at home, having accessible lessons and activities that can be easily facilitated at our kitchen tables, bedroom desks, and couches became a necessity. Now, as schools begin in-person learning again we want to make sure we are prepared for change and to make any transition as smooth as possible. Digital Get Real makes this possible.
This new version of Get Real is streamlined and easy to use. Some of the exciting new features you can expect are downloadable and fillable PDFs of the student workbooks, downloadable family letters, digital lesson plans and teacher’s guides embedded into each lesson. You can find the link to learn more about the digital version here!
Note: A subscription is required to access the digital version which comes in three options: 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years. To purchase a subscription, follow this link.
Parent Education
Let's Be Honest: Communication in Families That Keeps Kids Healthy is a program designed to provide parents of children in middle school with useful skills, information and resources to help them be successful in their role as the primary sexuality educators of their children. And, because we know middle school isn't the only time for parents to have ongoing conversations with youth about sexuality topics, we offer age-appropriate workshops for parents of children in early childhood, elementary and high school. In addition, our Seamos Honestos parent education program is offered in Spanish and creates an environment of trust and comfort to help parents talk to their children about sex and sexuality.
Peer Education
The Get Real Teen Council is a sexual health peer education program for high school students in Massachusetts.
Professional Training
The Professional Training program of the Education department stands as one of the most popular programs at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts. Teachers, nurses, social workers and other professionals who work with youth recognize PPLM as a trusted source of factual information on topics of sexual health, as well as experts in techniques of education delivery in the classroom.
In recent news, our Associate Director of Professional Education Michelle Soto co-wrote a white paper on, "Centering Racial Justice in Sex Education: Strategies for Engaging Professionals and Young People." For more information on how educators can center racial justice and equity in the classroom read the paper here!
Protection Methods Demonstration Kit
The Protection Methods Demonstration Kit is the most comprehensive resource for teaching about contraception and protection methods. It ships in a heavy duty, clear, plastic case designed for portability.
