At Planned Parenthood, we believe that sexual health is essential to every person's total well-being, and that parents and other trusted caregivers should be the primary sexuality educators of their children. Young people need age-appropriate access to accurate and comprehensive information in order to make responsible and safe choices. Our goal is to normalize the conversation around sex and sexuality so that parents and youth feel comfortable talking with one another about sexual health.
Our affordable Let's Be Honest parent education programs help parents and caregivers gain information and resources which empower them to be successful in their role as the primary sexuality educators of their children.
We understand that talking with youth about sex isn't always easy. That's why all of our Let's Be Honest parent education workshops are taught by experienced Planned Parenthood Educators who provide the education and skills necessary to build an environment of trust and comfort when talking with children about sex and sexuality.
Workshops include such topics as:
- Clarifying values and practicing communication skills
- Refreshing knowledge of reproductive anatomy, physiology, and puberty
- Promoting healthy relationships and self-esteem
- Understanding sexually transmitted diseases
- Managing peer pressure and media influences
