  • Professional development and trainings
  • Educational publications and resources

Comprehensive Sex Ed

Planned Parenthood’s approach to sex education is more than just talking about anatomy, birth control, and STD prevention. Sex is about things people can do. Sexuality is part of who you are.

In addition to traditional topics like abstinence, birth control, and preventing sexually transmitted infections, our educators can deliver interactive presentations on a variety of sexuality topics including:

  • Puberty: growth and development
  • Gender roles and stereotypes
  • Sexuality through the lifespan
  • LGBTQ Issues
  • Relationships and dating violence
  • Bullying, harassment, and sexual assault
  • Sexuality and disability
  • And much, much more

LGBTQ Centered Sex Ed

Join the fight for health equity and inclusion with the only evidence-based program designed specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer and/or questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

There is a lack of inclusive sexual education focusing on the needs of LGBTQ youth, including sexual health resources and information that speaks to their experience. In the United States, LGBTQ youth have higher teen pregnancy and STI rates than their heterosexual and cisgender peers. There are many reasons for this, including: greater harassment, discrimination, and family rejection – leading to disproportionately poor sexual health outcomes.

IN·clued: Inclusive Healthcare – Youth & Providers Empowered is an LGBTQ-centered program that addresses the sexual health disparities affecting LGBTQ youth across the United States. IN·clued is designed specifically for LGBTQ young people. Unlike sex education programs that are simply “inclusive of” LGBTQ learners, this program speaks directly to them and centers their experiences and needs.

Teen Council: Peer Led Sex Ed

Teen Council is an award-winning peer education program that inspires and trains teens to become effective and passionate sexuality educators and advocates. Research shows that peer educators make a lasting impact in their communities. When students see a peer presenting about social situations and pressures with confidence and knowledge, they listen.

Whether you’re a young person interested in joining Teen Council, or a professional looking to start a peer education group in your community, our Education Department can help.

Youth Development

Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands believes deeply in the importance of empowering youth.  Our Youth Development programs take a holistic approach and are based in the belief that when young people are fully supported, they can reach their full potential. Youth who are engaged in their community, school, and family often make healthier decisions about their own lives and future.

Family Programs: Helping Families Talk

Conversations about puberty, sexual health, and relationships don’t have to be uncomfortable experiences. We believe that our communities are healthier and stronger when families are equipped with honest and accurate information and can communicate their values about sex and relationships.

Talking about sex and sexuality takes practice. Our family programs will help you start and continue important conversations about growing up and staying safe.
