Missouri SB 49 goes into effect on August 28. Here is what you can expect as a patient:
We will continue to see minors (age 16+) in Missouri for gender-affirming care, as long as they begin care before August 28, 2023. Patients who have begun care before August 28 can continue their care in Missouri. After August 28, Missouri minors looking to start gender-affirming care can come to our health center in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Planned Parenthood, Metro Trans Umbrella Group and the Missouri Foundation for Health are partnering on TRANSforming Community, TRANSforming Care, a program that expands health care services, conducts trauma-informed research, and builds a sex education curriculum centering the needs of the gender expansive community.
TRANSforming Community, TRANSforming Care is designed by and for the trans and non-binary community and extends gender-affirming care to all Planned Parenthood locations in the St. Louis area, Springfield and Joplin, Missouri, and Fairview Heights, Illinois.
