(WEST PALM BEACH) – Planned Parenthood of Greater Miami, Palm Beach and Treasure Coast today announced its official name change to Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast. The announcement follows Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s recent decision to expand the service area of the local affiliate to include Broward and Southern Palm Beach. In order to serve the new area, the affiliate also announced plans to open a new health center in Boca Raton.

The report, Sex Education in the Sunshine State: How Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage Programs Are Keeping Florida’s Youth in the Dark, found that young people in Florida are currently experiencing some of the worst sexual health outcomes in the country and yet, are also subjected to ineffective abstinence-only-until-marriage programs more than youth in any other state with the exception of Texas.
