Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC (PPMW) is looking for applicants to represent PPMW at events in our community. Ambassadors are individuals who are ready to advocate for reproductive health, choice, and justice. The PPMW Ambassador Program will serve as an on-ramp for individuals to engage with the reproductive health community and actively support PPMW.

As we encounter new attacks on reproductive rights, the nation faces some of the biggest threats to Planned Parenthood patients that we’ve ever experienced. We will need volunteers to support our mission, help us mobilize here in DC, MD and VA, and fight constantly against these attacks.

All applicants must be available for mandatory training on Saturday, April 13th 2024,1:30–3:30 p.m. Training will provide participants with structured activities, informal discussion, and guidance on how to speak on behalf of PPMW in terms of messaging, community engagement, education, politics and marketing. 

The Ambassador Program will provide:

  • Skills and specific knowledge of how you can use your personal strengths to best support Planned Parenthood and the reproductive rights movement post Roe
  • In-depth education on the biological, clinical, and political aspects of reproductive health and choice
  • The chance to be mentored by current PPMW board members and/or PPMW Developing Leaders Program alumni
  • Access to a network of other PPMW advocates and supporters

Program Requirements

Ambassadors must:

1. Show commitment to PPMW’s mission and values

2. Complete volunteer background check

3. Provide proof of COVID vaccination (at least two doses)

4. Be available to attend mandatory orientation April 13th, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

5. Be committed to the six-month program

6. Attend at least two volunteer events per month

7. Be willing to speak at public events

8. Check in with PPMW liaison bimonthly
