Dear Friends,

Dear Friends,

In fiscal year 2021 (FY21), Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) achieved ambitious goals through innovation and determination—despite and in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Our supporters stood by us with resounding generosity, enabling us to care for our patients, educate families, conduct cutting edge research, and advocate for public health policies that disrupt disparities and advance health equity in our state.

As we moved forward, the shifts in the world and in our work focused a spotlight on the need for community and for working together. PPLM and our supporters understood that to meaningfully improve health equity and outcomes, we had to look at the full health care landscape and tackle disparities collaboratively. That effort meant extending care and advocacy well beyond the exam room and uplifting people where they live, whatever their incomes, age, gender identity, location, or race.

PPLM’s historic resilience and commitment to progress came into play through expanded initiatives in urban centers like Boston, Springfield, and Worcester, as well as more remote regions of the Commonwealth, such as Southeastern Massachusetts. Virtually and in person, we dramatically enhanced PPLM’s presence statewide as an expert provider, educator, and supportive resource. Our remarkable staff and tireless volunteers gave their all as they built relationships of trust and shared in community decision making.

In this Annual Report, you will read about PPLM’s specific accomplishments in health care, education, advocacy, research, and outreach. Patients’ satisfaction with telehealth exceeded our expectations. Parents and educators asked for and received workshops, materials, and up-to-date information in record numbers. We rallied lawmakers around us in our campaign for expanded abortion access —and we followed the lead of the reproductive justice movement and our coalition partners when taking our next steps. Our researchers took a prominent seat at the table among scientists and policy makers. And every achievement was guided by a unified commitment to ensuring that all people in Massachusetts have equitable access to care and the same opportunities to lead safe, healthy lives on their own terms.

Your generous support has made all this possible, and we are deeply grateful. On behalf of our patients, staff, and the communities we serve, thank you for your commitment to PPLM.
