Dear Friends
This year we’re “coming to you live” with our first-ever fully digitized Annual Report. This new user-friendly format is not only environmentally sound and cost-efficient – it also reflects the spirit of innovation that has driven PPLM’s work during the past year.
We all know that it’s been another year of unprecedented attacks on our health and rights by the Trump-Pence administration, including the domestic gag rule, which jeopardized access to basic care for 75,000 people in Massachusetts and millions more nationwide. PPLM responded to this crisis and others by continuing to make real, tangible progress both for our patients and for the movement for reproductive rights.
In this report you’ll read about that progress. We have provided, protected, and expanded care for patients at our four health centers and embarked on new avenues of research, advocacy, education, and community engagement. From offering gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) in a safe, compassionate setting to conducting research that informs care and policy, we have never been more focused on each patient’s experience, whatever their need.
We are excited to have launched our bold FY20-22 strategic plan, Disrupting Disparities, Achieving Equity, which is laser-focused on enhancing access to care, decreasing stigma, and promoting sexual and reproductive health equity across the Commonwealth. We are determined to break down barriers in Massachusetts that have denied people the care they need and resulted in poor health outcomes. We are working with community partners to address these injustices for people of color who lack equitable access to sexual and reproductive health care and sex education as well as for people facing geographic barriers, people with low incomes, and young people who do not have equitable access to safe, legal abortion. You’ll be hearing more about our strategies as we swiftly implement the plan in the coming months.
Thanks to you, our supporters, PPLM has never been in a better position to act boldly and lead proactively in these critical areas. We are deeply grateful for your generosity. Thank you for standing with us to fight health injustice and build healthier communities, today and in the years ahead.
