Community Outreach: Planned Parenthood’s CEO takes aggressive ‘Plan’ approach

As president and CEO of Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, Dianne Luby is making sexual health a public health priority through awareness coalitions, community education programs and easier access to services.

“When the Centers for Disease Control reported this year that 1 in 4 girls between the ages of 15 and 19 have a sexually transmitted disease, there is no one who shouldn’t be worried,” said Luby. “We want to reverse that statistic because it is preventable with education and information.

In 2007, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts began a five-year strategic plan to change the conversation on sexual health.

“Our goal is to make sexual health as important as dental, nutritional and cardiovascular health,” Luby continued. “Our goal is also to encourage conversations between parents and children about why their sexual health is important.”
