BOSTON – Today, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts issued the following statement condemning the white supremacist rally on the Boston Common.

Statement from Dr. Jennifer Childs-Roshak, president and CEO, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts:

“Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts condemns the ideology of white nationalism and its tactics of intimidation through racist violence, fear, and hate. The protest white supremacists plan to attend in Boston is an appalling attack on people of color and Jewish people, and an explicit display of the racism that still exists in our country today.

“As a trusted healthcare provider in Massachusetts, our strength and commitment to the Commonwealth are built on the diversity of our staff, the patients we serve, and the communities where we live and work. We believe in the fundamental right of every person to live free from discrimination regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, or economic status. We will tolerate no less.

“The white supremacists at these protests want to continue this country's long history of threatening people of color’s safety and freedom over their bodies, whether it’s the freedom of accessing health care or feeling safe while walking down the street.

“As long as these injustices persist, none of us can be silent or neutral. It is more important than ever to confront racism wherever it occurs, and to support organizations working to dismantle white supremacy.

“Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts stands with people of color, Jewish people and allies in the face of such appalling attacks fueled by hate.”
