What We Need

1-2 experienced students to create a 15-30 second video ad for a social media campaign addressing abortion stigma among cisgender men. Students will produce storyboards for consumer testing and a final video ad(s), and the RH-TEAM investigators will concurrently conduct formative research with consumers to ensure the campaign is effective

Why We Are Doing This Work

Public health researchers and practitioners have partnered to improve population health by combating stigma around multiple health issues through media. Examples include campaigns to combat stigma around substance use disorder, HIV, and mental health services. However, to date, there have been few campaigns related to abortion stigma, and none targeting men.

Student Qualifications

• Passion for social justice and/or reproductive health

• Experience with storyboarding and video production (experience and comfort with both live actors and animation a plus)

• Access to requisite materials and equipment

• Enrollment in an accredited graduate or undergraduate academic program in a related field

• Strong partnership with an advisor in your program to maximize your learning through this experience

What We Offer

Pending degree program requirements and institutional rules at the academic institution with which we are partnering, the RH-TEAM investigators can offer:

• Academic credit via the degree-granting institution

• Co-authorship on a published manuscript as desired

• Ability to use campaign material in a thesis project, exhibit, or portfolio

• Small stipend for student filmmakers

• Minimal financial support to faculty advisors to defray administrative costs

• Financial support to hire actors if needed
