TWINRIX, una vacuna recomendada para los pacientes a partir de los 18 años, que ofrece protección contra la hepatitis A y B, ahora está disponible en los 19 centros de salud de PPIL.

La hepatitis A y B son enfermedades graves del hígado que se pueden transmitir a través del contacto sexual con la persona infectada o a través de una aguja infectada con el uso de drogas, piercings o tatuajes. La hepatitis A también se puede transmitir a través de alimentos o desechos contaminados. Cualquier persona que haya tenido relaciones sexuales sin protección, varias parejas o un historial de infecciones transmitidas sexualmente corre riesgo de tener hepatitis y debe recibir la vacuna TWINRIX.

TWINRIX es una inyección que se aplica en una serie de 3 dosis. Esta es la aplicación estándar, pero puede variar:

1ra dosis: día 0
2da dosis: mes 1
3ra dosis: mes 6

Los efectos secundarios incluyen dolor o enrojecimiento de la zona inyectada, dolor de cabeza y fatiga. Los pacientes hipersensibles a la levadura y la neomicina no deben utilizar TWINRIX.
