The safety of our patients, staff, and community is our top priority.

As an essential health care provider, PPIL is committed to caring for our patients and keeping our team safe and healthy. In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, we have taken proactive steps to protect our patients and staff, including:

  • conducting symptom and temperature screening of both patients and staff;
  • a universal masking policy;
  • remote check-in to reduce the amount of time patients spend inside the health center;
  • enacting social distancing measures wherever possible, including limiting the number of patients in our waiting rooms at any one time;
  • strengthening and increasing the frequency of our disinfecting and cleaning practices in all PPIL health centers and buildings;
  • offering telehealth appointments for select services, so that patients can receive high quality health care from the comfort of home; and
  • limiting health center access to patients only. Children and guests are not currently allowed in PPIL health centers. We know this is inconvenient, but please know this is to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible.

We continue to follow the most current safety guidelines issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

We encourage everyone to observe proper precautions to protect against COVID-19. Please consult your primary health care provider if you have flu-like symptoms or believe you may be at risk for serious complications from an underlying condition.

Care—no matter what.

In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, we are providing only select services in our health centers at this time. It is important that patients do not postpone essential health care, however, especially abortion services, as delaying abortion care can increase both risks and costs.

You may receive a call asking you to postpone your visit to a later date, receive a prescription over the phone, or reschedule as a telehealth visit.

PPIL is committed to answering patients’ questions and helping address sexual and reproductive health care needs remotely, whenever possible. Through video-based telehealth, patients can access needed services with fewer visits or without having to visit a health center at all. The Planned Parenthood Direct app is also available for patients seeking birth control or treatment for urinary tract infections.

Stay Smart. Stay Healthy.

For the health and safety of those who need to come in for care, we:

  • Have strengthened and increased the frequency of our disinfecting and cleaning practices in all PPIL health centers and buildings,
  • Are conducting active screening with anyone calling the Patient Access Center or entering a PPIL health center or building,
  • Are actively checking on the well-being of PPIL staff, to help maintain the safest possible environment for everyone,
  • Are enacting ‘social distancing’ measures wherever possible, including limiting the number of patients in our waiting rooms at any one time, and
  • Are limiting health center access to patients only. Children and guests will not be allowed in the health center. We know this will be inconvenient, but please know this is to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible.
