HIV Services in Hempstead, NY

Hempstead Center offers the following services:

  • HIV testing
  • HIV education
  • HIV referrals

We offer rapid HIV testing - with results in less than ten minutes. The test is performed using a blood specimen from the finger.

We also offer Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).  PrEP is the use of anti-HIV medication that keeps HIV negative people from becoming infected.

We also have a mobile medical unit that can bring HIV testing to you. 

Here’s what you need to know about HIV testing at this health center:

Rapid HIV testing can be done with a blood sample taken from a finger stick. The results are available in 10-40 minutes.

HIV counseling referral services are available.

HIV treatment referral services are available.

Counseling and confidential (private) testing for HIV are provided by trained staff who are sensitive to your needs and concerns.

Results must be given in person.

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is funded through the New York State Department of Health's AIDS Institute to provide free HIV testing for women.

Payment is expected at time of service unless other arrangements have previously been made.

Some HIV services may be covered by your insurance. If you want to use your insurance, please be sure to bring in your insurance information at the time of your visit.

Medicaid, Medicaid Family Planning Benefits Program, and Medicaid for Pregnant Women accepted.

If you are uninsured, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance for your procedure. You can confidentially find out if you qualify by calling us at 516-750-2500.

If you are eligible for financial assistance you may be asked to bring documentation with you to the health center.
