Fighting for immigrant rights and calling for health equity everywhere

Every June, we celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month, a nationwide effort to uplift the countless contributions that immigrants have made and continue to make to the United States. We know that the ability to migrate with dignity is a reproductive justice issue that continues to be under attack. Planned Parenthood believes that all immigrants, including LGBTQ+ immigrants, should be protected and have access to the resources they need. We will continue to advocate for policies that ensure that all people have access to affordable and comprehensive health care, regardless of income, zip code, or documentation status. We condemn the sexual and physical abuse faced by immigrants in detention centers, including forced sterilizations, inadequate care and mistreatment of pregnant people, withholding access to full reproductive health services including abortion, and unsafe practices that promote the spread of COVID-19.

We must also not overlook the more than 500,000 Black undocumented immigrants who are subjected to higher bonds, more time in detention, and higher rates of detention and deportation on criminal grounds than non-Black immigrants. Planned Parenthood will continue to stand alongside our partners in the immigrant rights movement for a future where all people — regardless of their immigration status or where they come from — can live healthy lives and thrive.

We stand with DACA recipients, immigrants ineligible for DACA, Temporary Protected Status recipients, farmworkers, and all immigrants, who make up our Planned Parenthood family of supporters, patients, staff, and community members. We are committed to standing with immigrant communities, improving sexual and reproductive health care access for all, and continuing to fight for immigrant rights.

As always, Planned Parenthood health centers are open to serve all patients regardless of immigration status, income, or insurance.
