Birth Control Consultation: This is a non-exam appointment to get a prescription for birth control options like the pill, patch, ring, or shot. We can also test you for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HIV. Reasons for a visit like this include:

Implant (Insertion/Exchange/Removal): The implant is a small matchstick sized birth control which is inserted into your arm. For your visit, make sure to wear a short sleeved shirt or a tank top. If you have scheduled to have the implant removed and you are looking to prevent pregnancy, we recommend that you do not have sex without a condom for 5 days prior to your appointment.

IUC/IUD (Insertion/Exchange/Removal): The IUC or IUD is a small “T” shaped device which is inserted into the uterus.
Insertion:

There must be no unprotected sex in the last 3 weeks (21 days) so that we can run an accurate pregnancy test before insertion. Abstinence, using hormonal birth control correctly and/or using a condom every single time is a requirement for an insertion.

Exchange:
