(New Haven, CT) – On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) will hold its Annual Spring Luncheon–the health care provider’s largest fundraising event of the year. The virtual event will feature a conversation between activist and best-selling author Glennon Doyle and PPSNE President & CEO, Amanda Skinner.

Doyle is a powerful force, with her signature humor, openness, and ability to encourage us all to step out from behind our masks of perfection.

Doyle and Skinner’s discussion will focus on what it means to be a white ally and reckoning with the privilege this country is built on—illuminating the value of Glennon’s best practice: “Just Show Up. Be Brave. Be Kind. Rest. Try Again.”

Glennon Doyle is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller UNTAMED, a Reese’s Book Club selection, which has sold over two million copies. She is also the author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller LOVE WARRIOR, an Oprah’s Book Club selection, and CARRY ON, WARRIOR. An activist and “patron saint of female empowerment” (People), Glennon is the founder and president of Together Rising, an all-women-led nonprofit organization that has revolutionized grassroots philanthropy—raising over $30 million for women, families, and children in crisis.

“Glennon Doyle is a powerhouse. Her ongoing commitment to others through her writing, activism, and honesty is the type of energy we need in 2021,” said Amanda Skinner, President & CEO of PPSNE. “The past year has been challenging. It has been a year of reckonings and brutal truths, which is why Glennon’s empowering message is just what our supporters need to hear.”

The Spring Luncheon will also host the presentation of the Community Impact Award, given annually in recognition of an individual’s commitment to service or social action that makes a difference in their community. The 2021 Community Impact Award recipient is longtime PPSNE supporter, volunteer, and former PPSNE board president Kay Maxwell.

Additionally, there will be a special guest appearance from Deja Foxx, a reproductive justice activist, political strategist, and blogger—known for being the youngest staffer on U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. Jane Condon, comedian and PPSNE supporter, will also be making a special guest appearance.

The 2021 Spring Luncheon is led by a volunteer committee co-chaired by Yvonne Albanese, Katey Goldberg, Donna Moffly, Sheila Mossman and Brice Russian of Greenwich and Carlyle Upson of Darien. Mossman is a member of the PPSNE Board of Directors and Moffly is a former board member.

All proceeds from the event support the high-quality, compassionate and nonjudgmental sexual and reproductive health care provided at 15 health centers across Connecticut and Rhode Island. Annually, more than 62,000 patients turn to PPSNE for a range of critical, life-saving health care services, including cancer screenings, annual exams, abortion, birth control, and STD/STI testing and treatment—regardless of their ability to pay.

Tickets are available online at ppsne.org/luncheon. Members of the media are invited to cover the annual Spring Luncheon—please contact Sarah Gordon Brilla (203.901.0283) to obtain a press pass.
