AVAILABILITY AND HOW TO PREPARE
The abortion pill (also known as a medication abortion) is offered up to 9 weeks and 6 days after the first day of your last menstrual period. It is a safe and effective way of ending an early pregnancy.
If your last period was more than 9 weeks and 6 days ago, read about our in-clinic abortion services below.
Abortion pill (medication abortion) services are available by appointment only.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT
Plan to be at the health center for 1.5-2 hour(s) for your entire visit.
Your appointment will include the opportunity to ask questions & discuss birth control options.
If you want, we can follow up with you to make sure your abortion worked and that you are well. In the unlikely event that you are still pregnant, you may need another dose of medicine or to have an in-clinic abortion to end the pregnancy.
We’ll also give you after-care instructions and a phone number you can call with any questions or concerns.
In-clinic abortion (also known as surgical abortion) is offered up to 19 weeks and 6 days after the first day of your last menstrual period.
If your last period started more than 19 weeks and 6 days ago, we can help connect you to other abortion options in your area.
In-clinic abortions are available by appointment only.
PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
If you take any medicines, please continue to take them normally before your appointment or bring them with you on the day of your appointment.

If you desire medication to help make your in-clinic abortion more comfortable, you must have a responsible companion with you to help you get home safely.

Post-Viability Abortion Restriction
Connecticut's post-viability restriction provides that no abortion may be performed after viability unless necessary to preserve the woman's life or health.
Young Women's Access to Abortion
A patient under 16 can obtain an abortion after receiving counseling from a PPC registered nurse or clinician. While we encourage all young people to talk with their parents, guardians, or trusted adults about their reproductive and sexual health, in the state of CT, adult permission (from a parent or guardian) is not required for them to receive services from Planned Parenthood.
