Planned Parenthood Southeastern PA announces new Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Alhambra Frarey

(Philadelphia, Pa.) --- Planned Parenthood Southeastern PA (PPSP) proudly announces the appointment of Alhambra Frarey, MD, MSHP, as its first Chief Medical Officer. In her role, Dr. Frarey will provide leadership for all patient services programs along with PPSP’s Clinical Research program. 

She will oversee and provide direction in administration, clinical practice and development of medical services, quality assurance, training, and strategic collaborations for expanded access to services.

Dr. Alhambra Frarey is a board-certified OB/GYN who specializes in complex family planning and sexual and reproductive healthcare. Since 2012, she’s been affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, most recently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Complex Family Planning.

Dr. Frarey received her medical degree and OB/GYN residency training from the University of Kansas School Of Medicine. She completed a Fellowship in Family Planning and received a Master of Science of Health Policy research at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Frarey served as Pennsylvania Hospital’s Ryan Program Director, as well as a member of the Health Equity Committee. She held a leadership role for Penn Medicine's Post-Roe Working Group. She joined Governor-elect Shapiro’s Transition Committee on Healthcare and has testified and provided comments for legislation to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive care.
