What's on the Ballot in Orange County?

Both the Orange County Board of Education and the Orange County Board of Supervisors are on the California Statewide Primary Election ballot in June of 2022.

Board of Education

The OC Board of Education oversees K-12 school districts throughout Orange County and makes decisions that impact:

  • Student achievement and access to quality education
  • Operations and financial conditions of K-12 school districts
  • The health and safety of students including COVID-19 mask and vaccine mandates
  • The California Healthy Youth Act which guarantees students access to comprehensive sexual health education
  • There is no runoff election for this particular race on the June Primary ballot. The top vote getter in the June Primary is the winner.

Board of Supervisors

The OC Board of Supervisors oversees the management of the county’s government and makes decisions that impact:

  • Public health and safety issues like the COVID-19 pandemic, homelessness, and the environment
  • How the $8 million+ annual county budget is spent
  • Who is appointed to county leadership roles like Chief Probation Officer, County Health Officer, Director of Child Support Services, Director of the Social Services Agency, and Public Defender
