Wellness Exams at
Planned Parenthood

Preventive care helps keep you out of the doctor’s office and living your life. Routine tests and screenings are key parts of staying healthy, and can even be life-saving.

Why a Wellness Exam?

Many people don’t visit their doctor unless they feel sick, are worried about a possible infection, or have some type of injury. But one of the best ways to make sure you stay healthy is by addressing your preventative care by having an Annual Wellness Exam

What is a Wellness Exam?

Wellness Exams are an opportunity for you and your provider to review your overall health, make sure you are up to date on routine cancer or STI screenings and immunizations, and go over any reproductive health needs you may have like birth control, ways to practice safer sex, or even pregnancy planning.

It's important to know that all people–regardless of sex, gender, or age, can benefit from an annual Wellness Exam.

When do I need to schedule a Wellness Exam?

How often you need a Wellness Exam depends on your age, and your medical and sexual history. If you're unsure whether or not you are due for a Wellness Exam, give us a call. Our providers can help you figure it out.

How should I prepare for my Wellness Exam?

You don’t need to do much to get ready for a Wellness Exam. One thing that might be helpful is to make a list of any questions or concerns you have that you want to ask your doctor or nurse about. Write them down so that it’s easier to remember them during your appointment. It may also be helpful to gather information about your family medical history if possible. This can help your provider decide which tests you could benefit from.

How much does a Wellness Exam cost?

All services at Planned Parenthood are low, to no-cost. Fees are based on a sliding scale and are determined by the patient’s monthly income and number of dependents. This means, you pay what you can affordView sliding scale.

We also accept private and commercial insurances, Medi-Cal, and Family PACT.
