PPOSBC is proud to be among the first healthcare organizations in the region to integrate COVID-19 vaccines into routine doctor visits.  It was imperative that PPOSBC make this service as expedient as possible for our patients since vaccine hesitancy is high among our patient demographic. Some major draws for young people when deciding to #GetVaxxed are convenience, not having to wait in long lines, and acquiring the prized vaccination card.

We’ve tailored our vaccine rollout to directly address these preferences. We make getting vaccinated convenient by offering the COVID-19 vaccine to our patients as an added service when they come in for routine visits, and we book an appointment for their second shot on the spot. Since our patients are already in our health centers when they are offered the vaccine, they avoid having to wait in long lines, unlike what we’ve seen at mass vaccination sites throughout the state. Finally, we provide proof of vaccination so they can begin to regain a sense of normalcy and participate in live sporting events, in-person concerts, and gatherings with friends and family — the last of which is perhaps the most important part of getting vaccinated for our patient population.

Because we know our patients are excited to get back to all the things they’ve missed out on over the past year and a half, our messaging to encourage vaccination is “Get back to your life by getting vaccinated.” This message has resonated with our patients, and now PPOSBC is able to come full circle and offer these lifesaving vaccines to our patients in addition to routine family planning visits.
