January is National Get Organized Month! As we kick off the new year, it's the perfect time to organize not only our homes and social calendars, but also our health and well-being, especially when it comes to sexual health. At Planned Parenthood of Orange & San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC), we believe that good health encompasses all aspects of our lives, including sexual health. Join us in celebrating this observance by taking charge of your reproductive well-being through this comprehensive New Year Sexual Health To-Do list:

1. Check Your Condom Expiration Dates:

Start by going through any condoms you have to ensure they are within their expiration dates. Condoms are a crucial part of safe sex practices, providing protection against unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Take this opportunity to restock your supply and discard any expired condoms.

2. Schedule Your Pap/Wellness Exam:

Regular health check-ups are essential, and your reproductive health is no exception. Wellness exams and pap tests, also known as pap smears, can detect early signs of cervical cancer and other reproductive health issues, allowing for timely intervention and treatment. Remember, preventive care is a key component of maintaining overall well-being.

3. Get Tested for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs):

Knowledge is power when it comes to your sexual health. Getting tested for STIs is a responsible and proactive step towards ensuring a healthy sex life for yourself and for your partner/s. Many STIs are asymptomatic, meaning you may not show any signs, yet they can have serious consequences if left untreated.

4. Clean Your Sex Toys:

If you incorporate sex toys into your intimate experiences, cleanliness is crucial. Regularly clean and sanitize your toys according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Proper maintenance not only extends the life of your toys but also reduces the risk of infections. Use mild, toy-friendly cleaners or warm, soapy water to keep them in top condition. Make this a regular part of your routine in the New Year if it’s not already.

By incorporating these simple yet impactful steps into your New Year To-Do list, you’ll be taking proactive measures to ensure a healthy and fulfilling sex life. Remember, prioritizing your sexual health is a positive and empowering choice that contributes to your overall well-being. Celebrate the start of the year by investing in yourself and embracing the power of organized and informed choices for a healthier, happier you.
