Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP)
The Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention grant (CAPP) has been graciously provided by the New York State Department of Health. CAPP oversees the use of multiple evidence-based comprehensive sex education curricula that provide adolescents with the knowledge, motivation and skills necessary to reduce their risk of unintended pregnancy and contracting sexually transmitted diseases. This education is being presented to schools and community organizations all around the North Country through multiple agencies.
These multimedia curricula have been evaluated and recommended by the Center for Disease Control
and Prevention as a “Program That Works.” Modules in each of the curricula will guide students to explore topics through interactive activities, videos, demonstrations and role plays that have been designed to keep participants interested in learning while allowing them to have fun participating. These curricula fulfill the required sex education component for NYS health classes. This education is available to community groups as well as in-school for certain districts.
CAPP Curricula offered by PPNCNY:
- 'Making Proud Choices' for ages 11-18
- 'Be Proud! Be Responsible!' for ages 13-18
- 'Be Proud! Be Responsible!' Be Protective!' for teen mothers ages 14-18
