Birth Control Refills

By coming to Planned Parenthood for care and getting your birth control directly through Planned Parenthood, you help us fulfill our mission to ensure everyone can access high quality, affordable care.

If you are a patient of a Minnesota or South Dakota health center, text or email refill reminders are available for mail out or health center pick up. Ask us how to sign up at your health center visit or call 1-800-230-PLAN.

Refill Options

If you had an in-person appointment at one of our health centers or a telehealth video visit, you are eligible for the following birth control refill options.

Request a Refill Online

  1. Visit your Patient Portal and login.

  • (Don't have a Patient Portal account? Call 1-800-230-7526 to get started)

  1. Go to the Mail tab.
  2. Write a message, with your prescription number, shipping address (free shipping), or the Planned Parenthood health center you'd like to pick your prescription up at.

If you are a patient at a Minnesota, North Dakota, or South Dakota health center call 1-855-831-6356

If you are a patient at a Iowa or Nebraska health center call 1-877-811-7526.

  1. Say your first name, date of birth, and phone number. 
  • For free shipping on birth control, provide your current mailing address.
  • For pick-up in a health center, tell us which Planned Parenthood health center and when you will arrive for pick-up.

Visit a Planned Parenthood Health Center

Due to COVID-19, health center birth control pickups are available for urgent needs. Screenings for symptoms and temperature checks, are required if you visit a health center. We encourage patients to use our birth control by mail option to limit in-person interactions at our health centers. Guests, visitors, and children are not allowed in the health centers at this time.

Do I need to request a refill beforehand? Can I just go to a health center?

As a result of COVID-19, we advise patients to use our birth control by mail (with free shipping) option. We typically process orders within 24-48 hours and have your birth control in the mail within 3-5 business days, however, due to COVID-19, there may be a delay in shipping. Using this service helps us limit in-person interactions at our health centers. Health center birth control pickups are available for urgent needs. Screening for symptoms and a temperature check is required if you visit a health center. I'm out of refills. How can I get a new prescription?

You can get a new prescription for birth control without leaving your home. Try using our online services—no appointment necessary!

How does refilling my prescription through Planned Parenthood help support the organization?

When will I get my refills in the mail?

We offer free shipping on birth control refills. Orders are typically processed within 24-48 hours and your birth control in the mail within 3-5 business days, however, due to COVID-19, there may be a delay in shipping.

If you need your prescription sooner, you can request to pick up your prescription at a health center. Refills are also available on a walk-in basis, but we encourage you to call or request your prescription ahead of time to reduce your wait while at the center and limit person-to person interactions during this time. 

Do I need to be at home to receive the package?

You do not need to be home to sign for receiving your prescription package.  Your package will arrive with your regular mail and will be packaged in an unmarked shipping envelope.

What does the package look like?

Your privacy is a top concern for Planned Parenthood. The package will be in a plain shipping envelope. It will not say Planned Parenthood anywhere on the outside of the package.
