My boyfriend makes fun of me for masturbating. He does it when we are alone and even in front of company to embarrass me. I don’t mind talking about OUR sex life but MY personal sex life is mostly my business.

You’re right — your personal sex life is your business, not his. Being in a relationship or having a sex life that involves another person doesn’t mean that you aren’t allowed to masturbate. Guys masturbate. Girls masturbate. Single people and people in relationships masturbate. Some people masturbate a few times a day; some do it a few times a year. Some people aren’t into masturbating. All of that is totally cool — and it’s also nobody’s business but yours.

You can say something to him like, “Hey, it’s not cool with me when you talk about masturbation like it’s supposed to embarrass me. There’s nothing wrong with masturbating, but it’s private, so why don’t you let me decide how much I’m willing to share with others.” Communication is important in any relationship, but how much you communicate about your masturbation habits is totally up to you. If he’s a good boyfriend, he’ll listen to what you have to say and he’ll avoid making you uncomfortable in the future. If he continues to make fun of you about this totally normal thing, even after you’ve asked him not to, then he might not be worth your time.
