I have lost my virginity this past month. We were safe. I have been on the pill for almost two years and he used a condom. The problem is, I feel so gulity. I am a christian and I was planning on saving it till marriage. I had no intention of losing my virginity to my current boyfriend (we have been dating for 2 years and almost 4 months now). He wasn’t a virgin when we met. And well, it just happened. I’m scared. I feel awful and I don’t know if I should tell my mom or not. I am a strong Christian but I don’t know what to do. how should I deal with this? it there any way I could be/ get pregnant? How should (if I should) tell my mom?

This sounds like a tough situation. Know that you are not a bad person because you had sex. In fact, the vast majority of people have sex before they marry. But you don’t have to have sex again until you feel that you’re ready. And it’s important to remember that just because you had sex with your boyfriend doesn’t mean that you have to have it again with him.

To decide how or whether to talk about this with your mom, it may be helpful to talk your feelings through with someone who is objective and can help think through the pros and cons. Turn to someone you trust —a friend, a member of your church, a professional counselor, or someone else who cares about you and what will be good for you.

Choosing to be in a sexual relationship is a big decision. There’s a lot to think about. A good sex life is one that keeps in balance with everything you’re about — your health, values, education and career goals, relationships with other people, and your feelings about yourself.

Using birth control pills and condoms together protects you from pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection, but if you’re worried you might be pregnant, you may want to take a pregnancy test.
