Will I be questioned about my sexual activity when getting birth control?
The answer to this question depends a lot on what kind of birth control you’re planning to get. When buying condoms, for example, you don’t need to tell anyone anything about your sexual behavior. But you’ll need to get a prescription from a health care provider to purchase many other kinds of birth control — including the pill. Before writing you a prescription, your health care provider will want to discuss your medical history, and that may include some questions about your sexual activity — such as whether or not you’re having sex, or if there is a chance that you are already pregnant. It’s important to be honest with your health care provider so that she or he can help you make safe and effective birth control choices.
