what is homophobia and what are the symptoms?
Homophobia isn’t a disease — it’s is a form of prejudice. Homophobia is the fear and hatred of people who are — or who appear to be — lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, or questioning (LGBTQ). It’s caused by ignorance, misinformation, or a lack of understanding about what LGBTQ people are really like.
Being different from society’s sexual norms can be very difficult in our culture. Most people who are homophobic are worried about their own sexuality and project that fear on others. It’s important to accept people, and ourselves, for being who we are.
