Is there a birth control shot for men?

Right now there’s no birth control shot for men. In fact, the only birth control options if you have a penis are condoms, abstinence, withdrawal, or a vasectomy.

But good news! Scientists are working to make more male birth control options. One promising idea is called Vasalgel. Vasalgel is supposed to stop sperm from leaving the testes. So you’d still ejaculate, but there’d be no sperm in it. Without sperm, pregnancy can’t happen.

Researchers continue to look for birth control options that are more convenient, work well, and are for people with different body parts. The more good options available, the better!
