Is it true that if you don’t pee after sex you get a UTI infection. & if the UTI infection goes untreated it becomes chlamydia ?

It looks like you’ve got a mix of facts and myths. Let’s break it down. First of all, urinary tract infections are common infections in the urinary tract system  – but they’re not sexually transmitted. They can happen to anyone regardless of whether or not you’ve had sex, though they’re much more common in woman than in men. UTIs, while uncomfortable, are easily treated with antibiotics. If a UTI is left untreated, it can turn into a kidney infection  – which is much more serious and difficult to treat. But no, UTIs will not cause chlamydia or any other STD.

Because UTIs are often caused by the mechanics of sex (bacteria moving around the genital area), peeing before and after sex can help prevent them. But this doesn’t work for everyone all the time, and some people who don’t pee after sex have no problem with UTIs. Some other ways to prevent UTIs include always using condoms during vaginal sex, drinking lots of water, and peeing as soon as you have to (rather than holding it).

If you think you have a UTI, see a health care provider as soon as possible. Learn more about UTIs.
