I’m on the Depo-Provera. what is the possibility of still getting pregnant if
im not using any other contraceptive?
Depo-Provera — the birth control shot — is one of the most effective birth control methods available. When it’s always used correctly, it’s more than 99 percent effective. Correctly using the shot means getting it regularly — every 12 weeks. So to use Depo-Provera, you need to see your health care provider every 12 weeks to get another shot. The shot is only effective for 12 weeks, so if you don’t get your shot on time, you could get pregnant.
If you don’t always get your shot on time or you just want some added protection, you can always use a condom along with the shot. Condoms also have the added benefit of helping to protect you and your partner from STDs.
