You don’t need to get your first Pap test until you’re 21. However, it’s a good idea to go in for a general exam (sometimes called a “well woman” exam) with a gynecologist or other sexual and reproductive health care provider, like a doctor or nurse at your nearest Planned Parenthood health center. You can get tested for STDs, get started on a birth control method that’s right for you if needed, get the HPV vaccine if you haven’t gotten it already, and ask any questions you may have about your body.
